Our Role at Lehigh
The Planning, Design and Construction division is organized in two groups: Planning, and Project Management. The Planning, Design and Construction teams work closely together every day on many projects. The involvement of both teams is continuous from the first idea of a project, all the way through construction, and then into ongoing maintenance and tracking of spaces.
The Project Management Team in the Design and Construction office provides the administrative, management and professional services required to facilitate and accomplish new construction, renovations and upgrades of physical facilities and infrastructure on campus.
The Project Management team oversees a wide range of projects each year. Projects include renovations to classrooms, offices, and labs, as well as new construction and major renovations of existing buildings.
The Planning Team focuses on the University’s long-range planning by guiding campus development in a way that gives physical form to the University’s mission, vision, and programs through the effective use of human, environmental, and financial resources.
The planning phase includes data collection and analysis, an understanding of who will occupy what space, how the space is utilized, and document management.
The Planning Team also helps to select interior finishes, such as carpet and paint colors, to align with Lehigh’s Design Guidelines. Planning is also responsible for selecting and approving furniture on campus. In some cases, the Planning department also procures the furniture.
