Lehigh University Breaks Ground for East Hill Residence Halls
The future is beginning to take shape on South Mountain. On Friday, October 16, 2026, Lehigh President Joseph J. Helble ‘82 was joined by Board Chair James R. Maida ‘85 P’17 P’19, Trustees Paul A. Camuti ‘83 and Eric A. Clement ‘99, Provost Nathan Urban and other university leaders to celebrate the groundbreaking for the East Hill Residence Halls.

Project Summary
East Hill Residence Halls will be a new, ground-up 371 bed student dormitory with first floor amenity space (lounge, gaming area, multi-purpose room, kitchenette, and laundry facilities). Nestled in native trees and plants on South Mountain, the new residence hall will bring even more vibrancy to our campus, with LEED Gold sustainability certification, a restored landscape, and new outdoor spaces and amenities that all students will be able to enjoy in the years to come. As part of this project, University Drive will be converted to two-way traffic with site lighting, signage, pedestrian and vehicular improvements from the project site to Brodhead Avenue.
