UGI will be completing projects across campus this summer. Work is underway with installation and site restoration estimated to be completed by August 14. Bookmark this page to check in for updates.

Project Overview

Mountaintop (map below, work area indicated in red) - UGI will be installing a new gas service line for the entire Mountaintop district, with work starting at the Central Plant Building and ending at Imbt Lab. There may be short term gas outages (at Iacocca Hall and Imbt Lab) which will be shared ahead of time to minimize any disruption to summer activities. Most of the new gas piping will be installed at or near roadways. UGI crews will allow one lane for travel on ATLSS Drive but may periodically close sections of Research Drive. UGI will likely have two crews in this area of campus.

Historic Core-Southside Gateway (Asa Packer) - UGI will have multiple crews in this area of campus this summer replacing sections of gas lines at approximately 20 different locations (see maps below, work areas indicated in red). There may be short term gas outages which will be shared prior to minimize any disruption to campus activities. Most of the new pipe installed at or near roadways will impact traffic. Work crews will allow for one lane for travel as much as possible, but closures may occur.

Update for Week of July 27th

There will be a great deal of UGI activity at Lehigh during the week of July 27th, with six crews spread across several areas. Please be alert, follow signs or flag crews,  and use caution as you make your way around campus. You may encounter road closures and some loss of parking. Crew working hours are generally 7:00 am to 3:30 pm.

Here’s what to expect.

  • Sidewalk Restoration: A work crew will be moving to various locations around campus to restore sidewalks impacted by the gas line replacement.
  • Mountaintop: Two crews will continue their work on Mountaintop.
    • A crew will work on ATLSS Drive.
      • Expect a one-lane closure.
    • The second crew will work at the main entrance of Iacocca Hall.
      • The entire driving and parking area in front of the building will be closed to traffic from both the north and south directions.
      • All other permit and visitor lots will remain open. When entering the Mountaintop area, turn right onto Research Drive to access all lots.
      •  Sidewalks in front of the building will remain accessible.
  • East Packer Avenue: A crew will work between the Mudd Building and the Webster Street intersection.
    • The road will be closed in that area.
  • Taylor Street: The crew will work on Taylor Street south of East Packer Avenue.
    • Expect a one-lane closure.
  • Parking Lot between Fritz and Wilbur
    • While this work is primarily off of E Packer Ave, it will reduce parking availability and impact pedestrian access in this area.

Please plan your travel around campus accordingly and allow for extra time where disruptions are possible. Thank you for your continued patience as these campus improvements move forward.
